Silver Snoopy Award

Vol. 1, No. 4 - Fall 2001

The Goddard Association is honored to have on its committee a recipient of NASA's prestigious Silver Snoopy Award. Joseph Modesty, a Goddard Association member, received this award in 1972 for his work on the Apollo mission. Given by NASA to fewer than one percent of the space program workforce annually, it is called an astronautsŐ own award and is presented to the recipient by an astronaut for outstanding performance and contribution to flight safety and mission. This coveted award consists of a sterling silver pin, which has flown aboard the Space Shuttle and is designed in the form of Snoopy wearing a space helmet and suit. Recipients also are given a certificate and a letter of commendation signed by the astronaut.
